A caballero is small and smooth tree, about 1.5 to 5 m high. It is has spines along the branches. Red and yellow, few flowed clustered are born on terminal portions.
Medicinal use
Fresh leaves are applied externally it relieves rheumatism; when heated and applied, remedycure for stomach pains
The decoration from the crushed seeds is used as an emetic and believed to be a cure for dysentery
The roots are diuretic and useful in cases of stone formation in bladder
The juice of the stem and roasted fruit are used for eye diseases
The powdered leaves are given as uterine tonic to women immediately after giving birth.
