~ 3HCucumbers, shiitake mushrooms,
carrots, celery, daikon radish,
beef, shrimp, and bean sprouts are
some of the "treasures" in this
classic Korean appetizer that has
its roots in the ancient royal
court Traditionally the treasures,
or 8 fillings, are served in a
hexagonal lacquered box with
divided sections. A pile of
delicate crepes, the ninth
treasure, sits in the center for
this roll-your-own-activity. We've
provided a recipe for homemade
crepes, but to make this dish
simpler to pull off we looked for a
ready-made wrapper. We use soft
taco shells, either white or whole
wheat Pick and choose your
preferred filling and wrap it up
for an innovative "Korean taco."
Each ingredient is quickly
stir-fried to retain its own
flavor. Piquant Pine Nut Mustard
Dressing is used for dipping. Soft
lettuce leaves, like Boston or Ruby
lettuces, also make good wrappers.
